When should I use Design Center Guided Build vs. Advanced Build?

Design Center offers different paths depending on how much guidance you need.

Use Guided Build when you want step-by-step help choosing a configuration. This is usually the better starting point if you are not sure which product family, enclosure, voltage, door count, or managed power approach is right for the application.

Guided Build is a good fit when:

  • You want Design Center to walk you through the selection process
  • You are starting from the application requirements
  • You need help narrowing the product options
  • You are not sure which inputs matter
  • You want a more guided product-selection experience

Use Advanced Build when you already understand the system requirements and want a more direct configuration workflow.

Advanced Build is a better fit when:

  • You already know the access control platform
  • You know the door count and voltage requirements
  • You know whether the system should be standard or managed
  • You are comfortable working through power, enclosure, and wiring options
  • You want more control over the configuration process

In general:

  • Guided Build = best when you need help choosing
  • Advanced Build = best when you already know what you are building

If you are asking for help with a Design Center result, please include:

  • Whether you used Guided Build or Advanced Build
  • Access control platform
  • Door count
  • Voltage requirements
  • Managed vs. standard power needs
  • The result or model number you are reviewing
  • What part of the recommendation seems unclear
